Night Guards
Are you experiencing problems with grinding or clenching your teeth?
If so, you’ll need to schedule an appointment to determine if a custom night guard would help. While night guards take some getting used to, it’s worth protecting your smile against nighttime teeth grinding.
Side effects of teeth grinding include worn teeth, jaw pain, and irritated gums.
Your custom night guard will be fitted to the exact shape of your teeth for the best level of protection and comfort. During your first appointment with us, we will take impressions of your teeth to send to our dental lab.
When you come back for your next appointment, we’ll have your new night guard ready for you. We will also make sure that the fit of the night guard allows you to breathe normally.
How Night Guards Work
Night guards are similar to the mouth guards athletes wear for contact sports. However, instead of wearing them on the football field or hockey rink, you wear night guards while asleep in bed. A nighttime teeth grinding guard will prevent further damage to your smile so you don’t wear down precious tooth enamel.
Night guards prevent sleep bruxism by providing a barrier between your upper and lower teeth. That way, when you clench your jaw you’ll be biting down on the protective material and not your teeth.
